"Thus
saith the LORD, Stand ye
in the ways, and see,
and ask for the old
paths, where is the
good way, and walk
therein, and ye shall
find rest for your
souls

Jeremiah
6:16

What
a sobering verse of scripture
from the Word of God. The Lord
challenged His people to pause
and consider where they were
standing. He challenged them to
open their eyes to the choices
which were before them. The Lord
challenged them to ask of Him
which way to go that they may
enjoy the good way and find rest
for their souls! To stand, to
see, and to ask were continual
imperative decisions which were
placed before the people of God.
In short, God was not going to
make them walk in the old
paths
they were to ask
for the old paths.

The
New England Baptist Camp Meeting,
which will be held at New Hope Baptist Church,
is a special time set aside to
ask for the old paths.
Have you ever heard of the days
when God was first, the Holy
Spirit moved, and Jesus Christ
had preeminence in every area of
life? Have you ever heard of the
days when companies would close
their doors, the farmers would
put up their cows and their
plows, and the schools would
close sending the children home
because there was a man of God
preaching the Word of God? They
knew the eternal Word of God was
more important than the temporal
issues of life. They had rest for
their souls.
|
They
wanted the old
paths.
In
a day filled with
scoffers, skeptics, and
liberal schools, there
are so many choices for
the people of God. Many
have been persuaded to
follow more popular
paths. Many have been
persuaded to follow more
prosperous paths. Many
have been persuaded to
follow more political
paths, but there is only
one way to find rest for
the soul. We are
reminded by Jeremiah
6:16 that God gives only
one choice for a good
way and that way is the
old paths.

We need the old paths.
Resolve
today to attend the New England
Baptist Camp Meeting. These three
days in August will be filled
with fellowship, singing, and
most importantly preaching from
the Word of God. This meeting
will be worth taking vacation
days from work, changing your
scheduled plans, and traveling
from any area of the country.
Call the lost you have been
praying for and invite them to
come with you. This meeting will
bless the believer, build the
home, and bind the church
together to fulfill the great
commission.
